Manchester City is considering offering a new contract to their goalkeeper Ederson, amid interest from Al-Nassr. The club wants to resolve his future before the end of pre-season as his current deal has less than two years left. Ederson is only earning £100,000 a week with City, but Al-Nassr is reportedly prepared to offer him almost five times that amount.
Al-Nassr may table an improved bid of around £35m for Ederson, though they are not willing to meet City’s £50m asking price. If Ederson refuses the new contract offer from City and pushes for a transfer, the club may be forced to accept a lower bid. Manager Pep Guardiola is known for not keeping unhappy players in his squad, so Ederson’s decision will be crucial.
If Ederson does end up staying at City, it could have implications for his teammate Stefan Ortega. Ortega may have signed a contract extension assuming he would get more playing time if Ederson left. However, if Ederson stays and promises are broken, it could create tension within the team. Ederson’s future remains uncertain, and the situation will be closely monitored as the transfer window progresses.
