Manchester City are considering a move for Everton goalkeeper Douglas Lukjanciks and are reportedly willing to spend up to £10m on the teenager, despite him not having made a first-team appearance yet. Lukjanciks, who has been capped by England at youth levels, is seen as a future no.1 and could help City meet Premier League rules on having homegrown players in their squad.
Everton is open to letting Lukjanciks go as it would help them comply with Profit and Sustainability rules and would represent pure profit on their balance sheet. City’s interest in the young goalkeeper is also fueled by their need to have young, promising homegrown talent in their squad. Lukjanciks’ potential move to City could provide him with better opportunities for playing time compared to other clubs pursuing him.
Other clubs interested in Lukjanciks include Tottenham, Aston Villa, Marseille, and Bayer Leverkusen, but City could be the most attractive option for the goalkeeper due to their need for a homegrown player and potential openings in their goalkeeping department. With the contracts of Scott Carson and Stefan Ortega set to expire, Lukjanciks could find more playing opportunities at City next season if he decides to make the move.
