Manchester City and Chelsea are both interested in signing Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj, as reported by Voetbal International journalist Tim van Duijn. Ramaj is expected to leave Ajax before the transfer window closes and has attracted the attention of the two Premier League clubs. Ramaj was Ajax’s first-choice keeper last season, but a change in the pecking order due to a new head coach has led to speculation about his departure.
City’s interest in Ramaj is due to the potential departure of their current goalkeeper, Ederson, who has accepted a contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad but remains in negotiations over the transfer fee. Ramaj, at 22 years of age with only one season of first-team experience, would be signed as an understudy to current backup keeper Stefan Ortega, who is expected to replace Ederson as the first-choice keeper.
Ramaj’s young age and limited experience make him a suitable option for City as a potential long-term replacement for Ederson. The German goalkeeper would benefit from learning from Ortega and could eventually take over as the first-choice keeper in the future. This move would provide City with stability in the goalkeeper position and ensure the continuity of quality in the squad.
