Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, as reported by Bild. The Premier League champions have a good relationship with Leipzig, which could help in securing Olmo’s transfer. However, Leipzig will have little say in where the 25-year-old goes as a €60m release clause will become active in his contract this summer.
Other clubs such as Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also interested in signing Olmo, but it is believed that City has an advantage due to their stability and ability to challenge for trophies. City’s interest in Olmo is also fueled by uncertainty surrounding the futures of Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne. Silva has a buyout clause in his contract, while De Bruyne has been linked with moves to clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
If either Silva or De Bruyne leave City this summer, signing Olmo would make sense for the club. City’s strong position in the race to sign the midfielder and their need for a potential replacement for departing players highlight the importance of the potential transfer for the Premier League champions.
