Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to sign RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, with clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool unlikely to compete for his signature. The Spanish international has a release clause set at €60m, which is considered a reasonable price based on his performances at the European Championships, where he has been a standout player with 3 goals and 2 assists.
Olmo has had injury issues which limited his appearances for Leipzig last season, but his form for his country has been impressive. Despite speculation that a bid for Olmo may be contingent on City selling a midfielder like Kevin De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva, the club may need to act quickly as his release clause expires on Monday. Leipzig could still be open to selling the player even if the clause expires, possibly for a slightly higher fee of between £60m and £70m.
While the Mirror did not disclose which other clubs may be interested in Olmo, it is clear that City are frontrunners in the race for his signature. With the player’s stellar performances at the Euros, it will be interesting to see if City make a move for him before the release clause deadline and potential competition from other interested clubs.
