Manchester City are looking to secure the services of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, but are not willing to meet the Magpies’ £100m asking price. Instead, they are considering loaning out either Oscar Bobb or Rico Lewis to sweeten the deal. Newcastle, however, are reportedly determined to keep hold of Guimaraes, making a move this summer seem unlikely.

Despite their interest in Guimaraes, City have also been linked with other midfielders such as Benfica’s Joao Neves. However, Neves seems set to join Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich as a more realistic alternative. Kimmich is reportedly available for a fee of around £25m, with City potentially looking to bring him in if they are unable to secure Guimaraes.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will be tempted by the offer of loaning Bobb or Lewis in exchange for Guimaraes. City are only prepared to pay £80m for the Brazilian international, and it seems unlikely that Newcastle will lower their valuation just to secure one of City’s young players on loan. The situation is still developing, and it is unclear at this time what City’s final move will be in their pursuit of Guimaraes.
