Manchester City supporters have been presented with a difficult choice after Marc Guehi, Elliot Anderson and Erling Haaland were nominated for the club’s September Player of the Month award.
City enjoyed a perfect September, winning all five of their matches. That has made the shortlist particularly interesting because each nominee made a different kind of contribution during the month.

The support for Guehi is understandable when looking at City’s defensive record during September.
According to Manchester City’s own announcement, the England defender played in four of the club’s five matches and was involved in three clean sheets. He produced particularly strong performances in the 2-0 victory at Porto, the 1-0 win against Coventry City and the 1-0 Manchester derby victory at Old Trafford.
For supporters who value consistency and defensive influence, Guehi’s September provides a compelling case.

Other fans simply wrote “Haaland” or “Erling” when giving their choice.
There was also strong support from Aidden Wrestling Fan, who wrote: “Going for Haaland.”
Haaland’s statistical case is difficult to ignore.
Manchester City’s official announcement states that he scored in all four matches he played during September. He scored the winner against Coventry, then produced a brace in the 2-0 Champions League victory at Porto. He subsequently scored the decisive goal in the Manchester derby before adding another goal against Sunderland in City’s 5-3 win.
That means Haaland directly influenced the scoreboard in every September appearance.
For supporters who believe the award should primarily recognise match-winning contributions, that record naturally makes him a leading candidate in their eyes.
The Manchester derby could be decisive for some fans
