Manchester City players Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, and Rodri were named in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament for the European Championships. Walker was the only England player in the XI, with Akanji losing to Walker’s team in the quarter-finals with Switzerland. Rodri played a crucial role in Spain’s victory at the Euros, but was forced off at half-time against England.

Rodri’s outstanding season included a 74-game unbeaten streak with Manchester City before losing in the FA Cup final. He won all six matches he played in for Spain at the Euros, making it only one loss in his last 81 appearances for club and country. Despite the rarity of holding midfielders winning individual awards like the Ballon d’Or, his importance to City and Spain is undeniable, earning praise from his international manager Luis de la Fuente.

In addition to Rodri, six other Spanish players were named in the UEFA Team of the Tournament for the Euros. The lineup also included players like William Saliba from Arsenal, Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, and Fabian Ruiz from Paris Saint-Germain. Walker, Akanji, and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala were also part of the XI.
