Manchester City have decided to stick by Kyle Walker for the 2024/25 season and not replace him, despite speculation about his future. The club has not sold any big-name players this summer, with only younger players departing. Walker, who has been loosely linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, was reportedly targeted by Saudi dealmakers, but City has decided to keep him for another season. Although Walker struggled last season, manager Pep Guardiola fought to keep him at the club and now City has shelved their interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.

Walker, who is now 34, will need to step up his performance for the upcoming season. Guardiola has alternative options in Manuel Akanji and Rico Lewis to play at right-back if Walker does not perform well. Despite Walker’s age, City does not appear to be in the market for a new right-back, raising questions about a succession plan for the position. While some may have expected City to sign a new right-back to prepare for Walker’s eventual replacement, it seems they have decided to stick with him for the time being.
