Ex-Manchester City star Lukas Nmecha has said the club are bringing in “another top striker” this summer and it caused his departure – which has got a lot of Sky Blues talking.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a forward to replace Sergio Agüero, who left the club after a ten-year spell in Manchester and Harry Kane and Erling Haaland has been their top target in the ongoing transfer window.
Lukas, who parted ways with the club in a deal worth £11 million last week, has spoken about the club’s striker predicament and whether it will be possible to draft in a big name to replace the likes of Sergio Aguero
“I had one year left on my contract. They’re bringing in another top striker; I don’t think my chance would have been very big there,” Nmecha said in an exclusive interview with German outlet Kicker.
His comments certainly suggest City expect to land one of their top targets in a marquee signing to replace Aguero.
The Premier League champions are thought to have made a £100m offer for the England captain but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to part ways with Kane this summer and has slapped a staggering £150m price tag on the marksman’s head to fend off potential suitors.
While Haaland, who has also been on the club radar, is thought to be staying at Dortmund as he has welcomed the club’s new boss Marco Rose.
These Lukas Nmecha’s comment has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.

The young striker also went on to speak about his ambitions moving ahead into a new chapter of his career and also talked about his hopes of booking a spot in Germany’s 2022 World Cup team.
“I see myself as a centre forward. I can also play outside and on the ten. I have to work my way in. If I do my best, I will definitely get my place. I want to be a top striker.”
“That’s one reason why I moved to the Bundesliga. I’m sure I can get to this level. The World Cup would really be a dream. To do that, I have to put everything in,” Nmecha added.
