Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona have a clear financial plan to bring Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese midfielder is a key target for Barcelona, with manager Xavi said to be ‘obsessed’ with the 27-year-old.

Despite Pep Guardiola reiterating that the Citizens wish to keep hold of the former SL Benfica and AS Monaco midfielder, the speculations refuse to go away.

Despite Manchester City’s reluctance to part with the Portuguese ace, Barça president Joan Laporta and the midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes are interested in making the deal happen.

According to the latest information from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are hopeful of landing the Portuguese international with president Joan Laporta and agent Jorge Mendes having already discussed a strategy to get a deal over the line.

Any deal for Silva would certainly hinge on Barcelona offloading Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong who has been heavily linked with Manchester United.

The report states that if De Jong leaves, Mendes is sure that he can convince Man City to sell the player for less than €100M. The plan is to make a deal that will be paid within 2-3 seasons.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can tempt City into a deal of this type and whether City would be prepared to let go of the 27-year-old.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
