Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic will probably be sidelined for two to three weeks due to a recurrence of a quad injury.

The Manchester City midfielder withdrew from the Croatian squad for their matches against Latvia and Armenia and now it has emerged the type of injury setback suffered by Kovacic.

According to Sam Lee of the Athletic, the Croatian international has suffered a recurrence of a quad injury.

Kovacic missed three matches in September with the same injury. Croatia announced the withdrawal of Kovacic from their squad earlier this week via their official Twitter (X) account.

Furthermore, Sam Lee adds that Kovacic stayed in Manchester for further assessment of the injury.

The news of Mateo Kovacic facing a spell on the sidelines is a blow for Pep Guardiola’s side. Man City has already seen many players pull out of international duty due to injury.

Ederson, Nathan Ake and Mathҽus Nunes all also left thҽir national teams, joining Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Sergio Gomez on thҽ injury list.

Rodri was rested by Spain for their win over Cyprus due to feeling some discomfort. Erling Haaland also suffered an injury scare in Norway’s 2-nil friendly win over the Faroe Islands.

The report was shared on Twitter(X) by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
