Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims James McAtee is hoping to stay and prove his worth at the Etihad despite wanted by a number of clubs within this transfer window.

The 19-year-old is highly regarded by the Etihad club and was recently rewarded with a new three-year contract for his efforts at the club.

He was a star performer for City’s U23s and looked a cut above the rest at youth level. He managed 18 goals and seven assists in 23 Premier League 2 games while also impressing in the UEFA Youth League, though he only made six senior appearances.

His limited first-team game time has led to speculation over a possible loan exit and now. Premier League sides such as Leeds United and Brighton are interested, as well as those in the Championship, with Huddersfield, said to currently lead the race.

Rangers, who were linked with a move for the youngster back in January, are also set to submit another bid to the land attacking midfielder on loan this summer.

Rangers may be an enticing move, with the possibility to play in Europe a big factor but the player himself wants to prove himself over the next 12 months at City.

According to Sam Lee, a number of clubs are interested in James McAtee, but the forward wants to stay at Manchester City.

The clubs are interested in either a loan of permanent deal, but McAtee would rather try and prove himself at Manchester City next season.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
