Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has provided a fresh update on the recovery of Kevin De Bruyne.
Thҽ Belgium playmaker has not featured for thҽ treble winners since undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury in August.
His absence has hugely impacted Manchester City, who could find themselves nine points off of Premier League leaders Arsenal come Sunday’s trip to Luton Town.
De Bruyne recently said his recovery was going well but he was not expecting to return to action until thҽ new year.
Thҽ 32-year-old’s presence in City’s official 23-man squad for the FIFA Club World Cup indicates his comeback is indeed on track, but whethҽr he will actually be fit enough to feature in Jeddah remains to be seen.
De Bruyne is unlikely to play a single minute of Man City’s campaign, however Guardiola provided a major update on the 32-year-olds recovery.
“[De Bruyne] started to run on the pitch but hasn’t trained once with us. Maybe [the FIFA Club World Cup] will be a little bit early, but I don’t know.
“Kevin [De Bruyne] will be back when he is, we don’t rush him and when he’s back we will welcome him with open arms.”
The news shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
