Manchester City are ready to enter the race for Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez with Pep Guardiola reportedly seeing the striker as the perfect replacement for Sergio Aguero.
The Catalan boss has spent the past few weeks looking into the weaknesses of his Manchester City squad which need consideration for the upcoming summer transfer window
According to Tuttosport report, Guardiola is hopeful he can entice the forward to the Etihad despite it being his dream to play alongside Lionel Messi.
The plan post-Agüero has to be agreed as he will be 33 years old when his deal expires. The challenge of replacing Sergio Agüero is certainly one of the problem areas of the Man City squad
The Argentine striker has been nothing short of sensational at Manchester City, but all good things must eventually come to an end – and the end could be in the summer of 2021.
He might be getting older, but Aguero isn’t slowing up just yet so it’s going to take a player of the highest quality to successfully replace the 31-year-old at the Etihad Stadium
But one name which keeps cropping up, when City’s plans are mentioned, is Lautaro Martinez, whose parallels with Aguero are uncanny.
The 22-year-old Inter Milan striker made his name in the tough Argentine Premier Division by scoring 27 goals in 60 appearances for Racing Club.
