Manchester City played to a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan in their first game of the 2024/2025 Champions League campaign. Despite having numerous chances to score, they were unable to find the back of the net. Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden both missed golden opportunities, with Gundogan also failing to convert a header. This marked the first time in five years that City dropped points at home in a Champions League group game.
While the draw against Inter Milan was not the worst result, Manchester City will still be frustrated knowing they could have secured a victory. With seven more games to play in the group phase, they will need to improve their clinical finishing to ensure success in the competition. Despite Inter Milan also having their chances, City missed opportunities that could have secured them a win, causing Pep Guardiola and his team to reflect on what went wrong and how they can improve moving forward.
