Pep Guardiola is refusing to concede defeat to Liverpool in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer.
Thiago, 29, who is widely regarded as one of the best centre-midfielders in the world is out of contract next summer and has told Bayern Munich that he won’t sign an extension.
Jurgen Klopp has never hidden his predilection for Thiago, whom he has faced various times when he coached in Germany
According to Soccer Link in France, City have ‘stepped on the accelerator’ in their attempts to bring the Spain international to Manchester this summer, despite Liverpool having a ‘considerable advantage’.
The report adds Guardiola has also been in contact with both Kingsley Coman and David Alaba regarding moves to Manchester City, but that’s already been reported a number of times.
Thiago is a favourite of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola from their time together at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
