A player from Manchester City’s academy, Kayky, has garnered interest from Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam. The Brazilian youngster has only made two appearances for the Manchester City first team under Pep Guardiola and is reportedly not ready for regular first-team football. Kayky has had loan spells with Pacos de Ferreira and Bahia but has not been able to make a significant impact at City.
Despite initial hype surrounding Kayky’s signing from Fluminense in January 2022 for £9 million, he has not lived up to expectations at Manchester City. The potential departure of Kayky this summer, either on loan or permanently, highlights that he has not developed as hoped. A lack of playing time, coupled with an ACL injury during his time at Bahia, has hindered his progress.
With the arrival of another Brazilian prospect, Savinho, at Manchester City, Kayky’s chances of breaking into the first team have further diminished. Despite initial excitement surrounding Kayky’s arrival, it appears that his future may lie away from City as Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam show interest in the young Brazilian talent.
