Manchester City have a history of selling big-name players, but they may be making a mistake by potentially selling Julian Alvarez. The striker has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid for £80 million, but his versatility and goal contributions make him an important player for City. Alvarez has scored 36 goals and delivered 18 assists in 103 appearances for the club, helping them win domestic and European trophies.
Selling Alvarez would weaken City’s squad and force them to find a suitable replacement. The 24-year-old made the most appearances in the Premier League for City last season, showcasing his importance to the team. Despite the hefty price tag, losing Alvarez would be a blow to the reigning Premier League champions.
City have already seen players like Liam Delap and Sergio Gomez leave in this transfer window, but selling Alvarez would be a step in the wrong direction. The Argentine has proven himself on the pitch and offers valuable versatility to Guardiola’s squad. Losing him for £80 million may not be worth the cost in terms of squad strength and quality.
