Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club is at the head of the queue to sign Benfica attacker Darwin Nunez.
The 22-year-old has been in prolific form for Jorge Jesus’s side in the early stages of the season and found the back of the net twice against Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola as translated and relayed by Sport Witness reported recently that scouts from the Etihad Stadium were present at the game.
Man City were not the only clubs present, with scouts from Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea also making the trip, along with clubs from Spain, France, Germany and Holland – most notably Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
According to Daily Star, City believe they have an advantage over their Premier League rivals because they seemingly already have a good relationship with Benfica.

The Star declare that “City are convinced they will have first shout at signing Nunez – thanks to their superb relationship with Benfica in the transfer market” because in recent years they have signed defender Ruben Dias and keeper Ederson from the Portuguese club.
Nunez reportedly has a buy out clause of £125m but the Star suggest City believe they could land him for a fee closer to £70m when Benfica are ready to sell him.
The Uruguayan hitman, who still has a contract with Benfica until June 2025, hit 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last season, showing his quality as an all-round striker.
This term, Nunez has already bagged six goals in seven games, including a brace against Barcelona in midweek. so interest in his signature is no shock.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

Please no. Just another Jesus at 9.

Not terrible, but such a waste. Good work rate, mediocre finishing.
We went from Balotelli, Dzeko, Agüero, Tevez to this. Txiki is a disaster.

Vlahovic is literally better

Baller tbf, if we can’t get haaland or Vlahovic then I’d love him at city

If we pay £70M for this guy instead of the £75M for Haaland…

No thanks. Can land Vlahovic for £61m
