Manchester City’s search for a backup to Erling Haaland is dominating headlines as the summer transfer window comes to a close. Despite reports linking City to Kyogo Furuhashi and Orri Oskarsson, it seems unlikely that either will be signed this summer. However, City remains open to making signings if the right opportunity arises, as demonstrated by past last-minute moves. One potential target is Evan Ferguson, a highly-rated striker valued at £70 million by Brighton & Hove Albion.
City, along with Arsenal, are reportedly interested in Ferguson but may prefer a loan deal before discussing the high price tag. While Ferguson’s talent is undeniable, the steep fee might deter City from pursuing a deal if Brighton refuses to lower their asking price. It remains to be seen if City will push forward with their interest in Ferguson and if a deal can be reached with Brighton in the future.
