Manchester City has commenced preparations for the upcoming season after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Lucas Paqueta, as they strive to remain competitive in the coming campaign.
Despite crashing out of the UEFA Champions League at the Quarter final, Manchester City are one for the most successful clubs in 2023/24 season.
Pep Guardiola’s men have already lefted three trophies this season; the club world cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Premier League title which they won on Sunday to make it four in a row.
The Premier League champions are now slowing down despite the success, they are eager to win more and will not hesitate to bring more players on board including Lucas Paqueta.
The West Ham United midfielder closed to joining Manchester City last summer. The Cityzens are expected to meet the market valuation of the Brazilian but later pulled out after the FA started an investigation into the midfielder alleged betting breaches.
According to Sportskeeda, Man City are ready to meet the Paqueta and West Ham representatives to agree on the transfer deal and finalise the signing as soon as possible.
The Brazil international 48 games for the Hammers across all competitions this season. He scored eight goals and provided seven assists. Although, Man City are not in shortage of midfielder at the moment, but the possibility of losing Bernardo Silva during the summer transfer window could make Paqueta deal a perfect one.
The 26-year-old Paqueta could be the perfect replacement for Bernardo Silva who has revealed his intention to seek new challenges elsewhere after a successful career at Manchester City.
Speaking about his future amid the transfer speculations. Paqueta said: “I have a lot of respect for West Ham. I’ve had a very good season and this has helped me a lot in my evolution in the Premier League. Out of respect for them, I have to remain focused on my work.”
