But now, According to a report in Spanish outlet SPORT, Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara is edging closer to a move to Liverpool this summer as talks between the player’s representatives and the Premier League champions are ramping up
Jurgen Klopp has never hidden his predilection for Thiago, whom he has faced various times when he coached in Germany
Negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage, though Liverpool are unwilling to pay Bayern’s €35 million (£31m/£39m) asking price in full.
Thiago, 29, who is widely regarded as one of the best centre-midfielders in the world is out of contract next summer and has told Bayern that he won’t sign an extension.
Thiago is a favourite of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola from their time together at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, so landing him could strike something of a blow to City for next season’s title race – but we’re just not convinced this deal is really as far along as being claimed.
