Manchester City striker Liam Delap has permanently transferred to Ipswich Town for a total of £20 million, with an initial payment of £15 million and potential add-ons. Delap, who has made six first-team appearances for Manchester City and scored on his debut in 2020, spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Hull City. He has also played in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and Emirates FA Cup for Manchester City, scoring 32 goals in 32 Premier League 2 appearances for their EDS.

The transfer to Ipswich Town includes a buy-back clause and a 20% sell-on clause. Manchester City has confirmed Delap’s exit, wishing him well in his future endeavors in the senior professional game. Delap has expressed his excitement about joining Ipswich Town, citing the positive environment and playing style as reasons for his enthusiasm. Ipswich Town manager, Kieran McKenna, believes Delap has the potential to be an important player for the club in the upcoming season and beyond.

The 21-year-old forward was also reportedly of interest to Southampton this summer, but ultimately decided to join the newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town. Delap will face his former club Manchester City in August, as the two teams are scheduled to meet in the Premier League. Ipswich Town is looking forward to Delap contributing his goals and assists while bringing his intense work ethic to the team.
