Joao Cancelo is a key player for Manchester City and has spoken about his mistake against Liverpool.
Cancelo enjoyed a breakout season for the Blues last year and managed to secure himself as a first-team regular at left back with Kyle Walker commanding operations on the opposite flank.
Pep Guardiola has continued to trust the 28-year-old in the 2022/23 campaign and the Portuguese star has rewarded his boss. With two goals and five assists so far, Cancelo has been in mainly sparkling form.
However, he suffered a blip last Month against Liverpool when he was beaten on the halfway line by Mohamed Salah, who went on to score the game’s only goal.
Cancelo pointed towards the reaction to his mistake at Liverpool as justification that he is at the right club.
The level of support he received, he says, drives him to repay his teammates and fans with titles at the end of the season.
Speaking to the City magazine, Cancelo said: “I can talk about this, because after my mistake against Liverpool last month, the people supported me, and I felt the love from our fans, and I want to give it back to them in the future.”
“I want to give them titles because it’s the best way to repay them for the support they have given me.”
These Cancelo’s comments shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

“Nobody should ever turn on a player or criticise them for one mistake no matter how big it is. If it happens more often than that then questions should be asked but you can’t judge anybody off a single moment. There isn’t a player in the world who hasn’t had one. They’re random.”
