Jack Grealish made his first start of the season for Manchester City in their 3-1 victory against West Ham United, replacing the injured Savinho. Grealish put in an impressive display, making key passes and winning ground duels, before being substituted in the 72nd minute. This decision was likely made as a precaution due to his early-season injury. Grealish’s performance was praised by manager Pep Guardiola and his return to the pitch was celebrated by City supporters.
Kalvin Phillips, a former teammate of Grealish’s at Aston Villa, showed his support for the City winger on social media after the victory. Grealish formed a strong partnership with Kevin De Bruyne, seamlessly linking up with the Belgian and causing problems for the opposition defence. Despite facing expectations of a battle with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Grealish and De Bruyne’s interchangeability confused West Ham and contributed to City’s success in the match.
