Julian Alvarez has expressed his dissatisfaction with his role as a squad player at Manchester City last season. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Alvarez will discuss his future with the club this week, with rumors circulating that Alvarez wishes to leave for more game time and warmer weather. Despite feeling good at City, Alvarez admitted to being annoyed at being left out of crucial games last season. Pundits like Frank Leboeuf believe a player of Alvarez’s status should not be a bench player, while Shaka Hislop thinks City would regret selling him.
There were valid reasons for Alvarez being benched, including his inconsistent performance as a number 10 and the return from injury of key players like Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland. Phil Foden’s exceptional form also made it challenging for Pep Guardiola to find a spot for Alvarez in the team. Despite feeling frustrated at being left out of important games, Alvarez still feels good at City and will wait to discuss his future after the upcoming Olympic games.
