Manchester City has a history of selling players to other Premier League clubs, with recent examples including Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer to Chelsea. Rumors have surfaced about Chelsea’s interest in acquiring Julian Alvarez from City during this transfer window. However, journalist Ben Jacobs has provided insights on the situation, stating that Chelsea has internally discussed Alvarez but no official approach has been made yet.
Alvarez has been a key player for City since his arrival in 2022, making over 100 appearances and contributing significantly in terms of goals and assists. Given his importance to the team and interest from other top clubs like Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, City should resist selling Alvarez this summer. Jacobs also highlighted the challenges involved in securing a deal for Alvarez, such as City’s reluctance to sell and the high transfer fee demanded.
With no formal approach from Chelsea and the complexity of negotiating a deal for Alvarez, it is unlikely that City will entertain the idea of selling the striker in the current transfer window. Alvarez’s role in the team’s success and the lack of concrete interest from Chelsea suggest that City should hold on to their valuable asset for the foreseeable future.
