Manchester City have not made any major signings in this summer transfer window, with only Savinho joining the squad. However, they have let go of several players, including Sergio Gomez, Liam Delap, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and Tommy Doyle. Despite being linked with various players, journalist Michael Plant has stated that it is unlikely City will sign reported target Eberechi Eze. He mentioned that with players like Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden already in attacking midfield roles, along with James McAtee, there is no real need for Eze at City.
Eze, who has a £60m release clause in his contract with Crystal Palace, has been linked with moves to City and Tottenham Hotspur. With 124 appearances for Palace and a good goal-scoring record, Eze could be a valuable addition to any team. However, Plant believes that City’s current squad depth in midfield and attacking positions makes Eze’s signing unnecessary at the moment. If a player were to leave City before the end of the transfer window, a late move for Eze could still be possible.
Overall, the journalist’s comments suggest that Manchester City are unlikely to pursue a deal for Eberechi Eze this summer. With the team already possessing strong midfield options, including De Bruyne and Foden, it seems that City may not see the need to add Eze to their roster. However, if circumstances change, there could still be a possibility of City making a move for the talented Crystal Palace midfielder.
