Former Liverpool star John Barnes praised City’s playing style and singled out Erling Haaland for his impact despite not touching the ball much. Barnes admitted he could never play like Haaland, who has scored seven goals with only 51 touches in his three games.
Haaland’s ability to make an impact in games with fewer touches has been commended, with some suggesting it is better for him to focus on scoring goals rather than trying to be more involved in play. Despite being a winger in his playing days, Barnes acknowledges that Haaland’s finishing ability and efficiency in front of goal make him a standout player for Manchester City this season.
