Jeremy Doku was on fire during Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Following the latest international break, the Citizens returned to Premier League action with the arrival of Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland put the home side 1-0 up in the first half of the game before Trent Alexander-Arnold found an equaliser for his side in the second period of the match.

Although Man City fans may be disappointed with the result, they can take positives from the performance of Jeremy Doku.

The Belgium international winger has hit the ground running at Man City since his move in the summer of 2023 and has established himself as an important player in manager Guardiola’s side.

With the entire 90 minutes under his belt against Liverpool, the winger was able to show how useful he can be for Man City from an attacking and defensive point of view.

The 21-year-old set a new record in the Premier League by completing 11 take-ons, more than any other player this season.

Doku completed 11 dribbles, where he beat his defender and kept hold of the ball, the most by a player in a Premier League game since September 2021 and the most by a City player under Guardiola.

He attempted 16 dribbles in total. Only once has a player attempted more for Man City under Pep Guardiola and that was Raheem Sterling against Leeds in 2022.

This performance ultimately earned Doku, who Man City signed from Rennes in a deal worth £55m, an overall match rating of 8.6/10 from SofaScore, comfortably making him the highest-rated player on the day.

Against Liverpool on Saturday, Doku took two shots which were not on target, played four key passes, had a pass accuracy of 89.4%, took 89 touches, attempted 11 dribbles, made four tackles and one clearance and put in three crosses.
