Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the Premier League leaders are ‘ready to pay’ Erling Haaland‘s €75M release clause.
Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Citizens are expected to spend big on a new centre-forward ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
The Borussia Dortmund’s striker is reportedly next Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.
The Norwegian has become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market since making his breakthrough at Red Bull Salzburg a couple of years ago.
Haaland, who remains under contract with the Black and Yellow until 2024, has already netted 19 goals in 16 appearances for Dortmund this term despite injury concerns.
Such remarkable progress in Germany has invariably put the Norwegian goal machine on the radars of many European football clubs, who are bracing themselves for a battle to attract the services of the Dortmund talisman with a saga brewing ahead of the summer transfer window.
As per a report by German publication BILD, translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are understood to be ‘ready to pay’ Erling Haaland’s €75 million release clause, which is set to be activated next summer.
The report states that Dortmund plan to hold ‘first concrete talks’ with Erling Haaland’s camp in January, to find out his future plans.
With the news about Ferran Torres’ exit doing the rounds and leaving the spot for a number nine vacant at the club, Plenty of Man City fans want the Torres bounty put towards a concerted effort to bring in Borussia Dortmund goal machine.
The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

You know if this happens, how is anyone supposed to compete? City look set to win the league back to back without a striker at all, imagine with one of the best for the next decade. https://t.co/Od10wHG4ZW
