Julian Alvarez was once seen as a key player for Manchester City’s future success, but recent reports suggest that the club is prepared to let him leave in the summer. Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus have shown interest in the striker, who has produced impressive numbers during his time at City. Instead of signing a direct replacement for Alvarez, City should consider investing in a multifaceted midfielder who can deputise for Rodri and provide defensive stability and passing range.
If Alvarez does leave, City could revert to a false nine system, as they have done in the past due to a lack of a traditional striker. Players like Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden have successfully played in that role, freeing up space for others to score goals. With in-house solutions available and midfield being a bigger priority in the transfer market, City should focus on finding a midfielder who can contribute in both attacking and defensive aspects, rather than seek a direct replacement for Alvarez.
