Joao Cancelo is facing an uncertain future at Manchester City, with one club in Italy leading the race to recruit him should he show an intention to return to the country. FC Barcelona is understood to be Cancelo’s preferred destination, but financial struggles may prevent a permanent agreement from being reached. As a result, Manchester City and Cancelo’s agent Jorge Mendes are exploring alternative opportunities, including a potential return to Italian football.
Juventus is reportedly ahead of Inter Milan in the race to sign Joao Cancelo, should the player decide to leave Manchester City this summer. Manchester City is willing to lower their asking price for Cancelo from €70 million to as low as €30 million. Despite the potential departure of Cancelo, Pep Guardiola is unlikely to seek a direct replacement, as he has faith in the abilities of Kyle Walker and Rico Lewis at right-back, along with support from John Stones and Manuel Akanji.
It remains to be seen what Juventus could offer Manchester City for Cancelo, especially considering their busy transfer market activity. Guardiola’s confidence in his current squad depth suggests that the club may be open to selling Cancelo without seeking an immediate replacement. Juventus is currently leading the race for Cancelo’s signature, should he decide to make a return to Italian football this summer.
