Manchester City might have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg forward Noah Okafor, with the Austrian club’s current sporting director refusing to rule out a move away for the player.
The Premier league champions have been linked with a move for Noah Okafor who has scored 10 goals with two assists from 22 games in all competitions this season, but there’s no suggestion a bid is being lined up.
The 22-year-old joined RB Salzburg from FC Basel in January 2020 and has gone on to make 100 appearances in all competitions, scoring 34 goals with 20 assists.
Despite his impressive form for the club, Salzburg’s hierarchy have refused to reject the prospect of a move for Okafor in the near future – with sporting director Christoph Freund claiming that he hopes the attacker ‘plays a good World Cup’.
Speaking to Sky Sport Austria, he said: “I think there will be a bit more going on in the transfer market than in recent years. Okafor really took off last year. I hope he plays a good World Cup. Then the Noah Okafor stock can become very interesting. I’m not ruling it out.”
Okafor is also attracting interest from several other Premier League sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea. He also thought to be a transfer target for Italian giants AC Milan, with a new report from Calciomercato suggesting that the Serie A side could be his eventual destination.
