Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that Manchester City are considering Mauricio Pochettino as an option should Pep Guardiola not commit to a new contract.
Pep Gaurdiola’s long-term future at the Etihad is in some doubt with the Spaniard yet to commit beyond next season.
According to The Sun, Pochettino has admirers within the City hierarchy and is considered as an option to replace Pep Guardiola if he doesn’t sign new deal at Etihad.
The report adds City hierarchy would ideally like Pep Guardiola to extend his deal and continue at the club despite another Euro failure.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
I’d rather have Kompany as manager than Pochetino— Ricardo Moni (@mayaricardo05) August 16, 2020
If Pep doesn’t extend then get Nagelsmann, Poch or Ten Hag— Spencer James Tomlinson (@Spencer200003) August 16, 2020
Why not nagelsmann. He’s the ideal manager for our project— Blue 🌑 (@RAZZZZZZZZ7) August 16, 2020

can’t let pep go after one wrong tactical decision. the football we’ve seen from this team under pep we could never see again. we go again next year— Ben Roberts (@BenRobbo230104) August 17, 2020
Anyone who wants Guardiola out of the club is not a Manchester City fan and he/she should support another team and leave us with the best manager in the world doing his job. I mean, just tell me another coach that had won two premier leagues in a row with 198 points achieved!— Martín Rodríguez (@martinsrodsucv) August 16, 2020
Pep was brought into ultimately win the Champions League for the owners. Amazing manager. Won lots of domestic trophies for us. However has botched Europe 4 times. Yes suspect ref decisions, cruel, bias VAR decisions against us, missed chances but in that regard he has failed.— Charles Marcus MCFF (@CharlesMCanada) August 16, 2020
Why Mauricio Pochettino as Pep Guardiola’s successor
it is claimed that some of City’s executives think highly of the Argentine after his impressive few years with the North London club, which saw him reach the final of the Champions League in 2019.
Pochettino has shown during his years in England that he is capable of building sides capable of playing attractive, exhilarating football and also has an excellent record at developing young, homegrown talent; Phil Foden and City’s other gems would be in excellent hands.
Pochettino, who has been out of work since being sacked by Tottenham in November is also on Barcelona’s radar with Quique Setien set to be sacked.
