Joao Cancelo has described a season-long loan switch to Barcelona as a ‘dream’ despite signing a fresh long-term Manchester City contract last year.
The 29-year-old secured a move to Catalonia on deadline day, and is looking to get his career back on track after a disappointing spell at Bayern Munich during the second half of last season.
Cancelo is expected to see a significant uptick in minutes after joining Barca, and has already made his debut for the club – coming off the bench in the 2-1 win over Osasuna.
Speaking on international duty with Portugal during an interview with SPORT, the Portuguese defender has openly described a move to Catalonia as a “dream” transfer.
“I want to achieve great things with this club because it’s where I’ve always dreamed of playing. It’s a dream club, all my friends know that all my idols played for Barcelona,” the 29-year-old told journalist Toni Juanmarti.
These Joao Cancelo’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
