Manchester City have no plans to bring in a new ‘big name’ goalkeeper this summer despite uncertainty surrounding Ederson’s future at the club. Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr expressed interest in Ederson but their proposed offer of £25 million was rejected by Manchester City as it fell short of the club’s valuation of the Brazilian international.
Despite continued interest from Middle-Eastern clubs in Ederson, Manchester City remain firm on their stance not to pursue a high-profile replacement if he were to leave. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano suggested that Stefan Ortega Moreno would become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper if Ederson were to depart, dispelling rumors linking City to top-tier goalkeepers like Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Speculation surrounding potential backup goalkeepers like Mike Maignan and Diogo Costa have not progressed, with some fans suggesting Burnley’s James Trafford as a possible option. Manchester City will continue with their current goalkeeping trio during their summer tour in the United States, facing off against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea.
