Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘optimistic’ of beating Real Madrid to the signing of Erling Haaland.
The Blues are trying to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker as they look to belatedly replace Sergio Aguero in their team, having failed to land a marquee forward in the last summer transfer window.
The Citizens are believed to be leading the race for the 21-year-old’s signature, while La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on his situation.
According to the latest information from ESPN, Manchester City are ‘optimistic’ they can see off competition from Real Madrid to sign Haaland this summer.
The report states that City believe the lure of working with Pep Guardiola and a track record of success can convince Erling Haaland to join the club.
Haaland has a €75 million release clause in his Dortmund contract, but the club believe they are in a strong financial position to complete the deal following the departures of Jack Harrison, Ferran Torres, and Angelino.
