Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club are one of several clubs interested in AC Milan forward, Rafael Leão and started talks with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes a few weeks ago.
The 22-year-old winger has transformed into a world-class wide attacker since joining AC Milan from Lille in August 2019. While he was not consistent, to begin with, he has come leaps and bounds in the last two seasons, establishing himself as the talisman for the Rossoneri.
The Portuguese international was particularly delightful in the 2021/22 season, amassing 11 goals and ten assists in 34 Serie A outings while winning the MVP award after guiding Milan to the title.
Leao’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with some of the most high profile clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.
According to journalist Santi Aouna of FootMercato, Several clubs are interested in the Portuguese winger including Manchester City, who started discussions a few weeks ago with his agent Jorge Mendes.
The report states the Rossoneri are not sure that they will be able to keep the €50 million-rated winger beyond the summer despite the fact there is a contract offer on the table.
It is believed the Citizens manager, Pep Guardiola, is a long-time admirer of the forward. His versatility could be useful for Guardiola, as he can operate all across the front line.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Manchester City supporters.
