Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have made an eight-figure proposal for Croatian wonderkid Luka Vuskovic as they pursue a transfer deal.
The 16-year-old is slowly establishing himself in the Croatian club’s first team. He infamously became the youngest Croatian to ever play, and to score, in the UEFA Youth League earlier on in his rising career.
Vuskovic is also the youngest-ever player and goalscorer in the club’s history. He is the youngest ever to start a game for Hajduk. Standing at 1.93m tall, he is already regarded as a future star of Croatian football.
According to a new report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, City among the ‘numerous’ teams looking to sign Luka Vuskovic, but also that the Premier League champions are the first club to submit an official offer out of his potential suitors.
It is claimed that Manchester City have proposed an opening deal worth €12 million for Hajduk Split’s 16 year-old Croatian central defender, comprising of an initial €10 million plus a further €2 million in potential add-ons.
At present, it is clarified that Manchester City’s offer has neither been accepted nor rejected, with Vuskovic having recently teamed up with renowned football agent Pini Zahavi.
However, with City making a bid to sign Vuskovic, it is safe to assume that Pep Guardiola’s side could be the favourites to land the Croatian youth international this summer, who according to Foot the Ball is being viewed as a ‘generational’ talent in his homeland.
As always, the report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
@HaaIandEra: “12M for a 16 yrs old?”
@Nasty_Nico10: “All worth it, he’ll be 100m Player soon..”
@doomsday_jack: “Why are we buying center backs instead of signing fullbacks, midfielders and wingers?.”
@fuerte__apache: “I like deals like this. Never heard of him but I’m sure it’d be better value than Gvardiol for 115m.”
@citybuildup: “Highly rated young defender, but doubt he’ll be ready right away for a top level club. He needs a transition club like serie a or bundesliga clubs.”
@Bewiseonyenso: “Get him and loan him out for 2/3 seasons.”
