One player in Manchester City’s squad has attracted the interest of Galatasaray, with the Turkish club keen on signing Kalvin Phillips. Phillips, who joined City from Leeds United in a £45m deal, has struggled for game time, making only 31 appearances since his arrival. After a loan spell at West Ham United last season, where he played in a centre-back role, Phillips may not feature regularly for City this season. Manager Pep Guardiola has described the midfielder as a “really good” player, but selling him to Galatasaray or another club willing to offer consistent playing time could be beneficial for all parties involved.
Manchester City have been active in selling players this summer, with names like Sergio Gomez, Liam Delap, and Riyad Mahrez departing the Etihad Stadium. As the transfer window nears its end, City may consider offloading Phillips to Galatasaray, who have shown interest in the Englishman. With other clubs like Roma, Everton, RB Leipzig, and RB Salzburg also monitoring Phillips, a move away from City could provide him with the opportunity for regular minutes on the pitch. Guardiola’s praise for Phillips may indicate that he has the potential to succeed elsewhere, making a transfer beneficial for both the player and the club.
