Manchester City and Arsenal are both interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for less than the £100 million release clause that lapsed during the Copa America. The 26-year-old midfielder had a successful season with Newcastle, being involved in 15 goals and playing in multiple competitions.
Guimaraes is said to be happy at St James’ Park but is also keen on playing Champions League football, a prospect that both Manchester City and Arsenal can offer. Both clubs are confident they can secure a deal for the Brazilian for around £80 million. Despite interest from top clubs, Guimaraes is unlikely to force an exit from Newcastle.
In addition to the interest from Manchester City and Arsenal, Guimaraes’ international teammate Savio is expected to join City soon. As the new season approaches, it remains to be seen whether Guimaraes will stay at Newcastle or make a move to one of the top Premier League clubs.
