Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that he believes that Jude Bellingham will join Manchester City next summer before joining Real Madrid later in his career.
Bellingham has, unsurprisingly, been one of the stars of the World Cup so far. The 19-year-old got England’s campaign off and running with a brilliant header in their win over Iran in their opening game.
And he was the star of the show against Senegal on Sunday. Bellingham set up one goal for Jordan Henderson and he also played an important role in England’s second, driving up the pitch from just outside his own area.
It was an ‘unbelievably good‘ display from the teenager. But it will not have come as a shock to many, with Bellingham achieving so much in his career before he has even turned 20.
Certainly, the likelihood of Borussia Dortmund receiving a bid for Bellingham they simply cannot turn down is increasing with each game.
He is all set to spark a major bidding war in the summer of 2023, with many top clubs including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea vying for his signature from Borussia Dortmund.
However, Ferdinand believes that he is destined for the Premier League. He suggested that Pep Guardiola’s contract may set the stage for Bellingham to join Manchester City.
“I think he will [join Manchester City], yeah. He’ll say, ‘listen, I’ve got a couple of mates there, English boys. I can go to Madrid in five years,” he told his YouTube channel.
“There’s no rush. I just think he thinks: ‘you know what, I’m the superstar. I’m going to win the Premier League, because I’m an English born boy. And then I’ll go to Madrid and I’ll do the same there in a few years.”
