Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Man City have been keeping an eye on Chelsea left-back, Ben Chilwell for a number of years.
The England international was linked with a deadline day move to Pep Guardiola’s side, who were in need of a replacement for Joao Cancelo, who was loaned out to Bayern Munich out of the blue.
While some may scratch their heads about why Man City seem so keen on signing the ‘high level’ Ben Chilwell, it seems, at least as per Fabrizio Romano as if this is not a new development in the slightest.
The Sky Blues could certainly do with any brand-new addition to bolster the position, as while Nathan Ake has done a brilliant defensive job in the position, he lacks the attacking quality needed to play in the role.
It seems Man City could make a move for Chelsea defender, Ben Chilwell, as per Fabrizio Romano, “Ben Chilwell is one of the players who has been appreciated by Man City for years. He’s one of the left-backs to consider, but I’m told not the only one.”
“They have a shortlist of players in that position and will decide how to proceed together with Pep [Guardiola] in May or June”, the Italian journalist told Caught Offside.
The 26-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester in 2020 for £50million and still has two years left to run on his deal, and though he has struggled with a lot of injuries, when fit he has proven to be one of Chelsea’s best players.
