The Emirates FA Cup fifth round draw was completed on Sunday afternoon, with Manchester City set to face Rob Edwards’ Luton Town in their next match.
Pep Guardiola and his team, the FA Cup holders, secured a victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round, marking their first goal at the North London side’s new stadium.
Despite having to wait until the closing stages of the game to score the decisive winner, Nathan Ake’s heroics secured Manchester City’s place in the fifth round.
Following their FIFA Club World Cup triumph in Saudi Arabia last month, Manchester City’s fine run of form continued with their victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Treble winners of last season now face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in the fifth round of the competition as their reward for their recent exploits.
The complete FA Cup fifth round draw also includes matches between Blackburn or Wrexham vs Newcastle, Chelsea or Aston Villa vs Leeds or Plymouth, Bournemouth vs Leicester, Liverpool or Norwich vs Watford or Southampton, Bristol City or Nottingham Forest vs Newport or Manchester United, Wolves vs Brighton, Sheffield Wednesday or Coventry vs Maidstone, and Luton vs Manchester City.
This will be the second expected meeting between Manchester City and Luton Town this season, with their first encounter at Kenilworth Road ending in a thrilling affair between the two sides.
Manchester City emerged victorious after fighting back with an equalising strike from Bernardo Silva and a winner from Jack Grealish.
The 2023/2024 FA Cup fifth round ties are scheduled to be played during the week commencing February 26.
