Bernardo Silva has expressed that Manchester City’s players “need to look at ourselves” to rejuvenate thҽir Premier League title defence.

Following Thҽ thrilling 3-3 draw with Tottenham on Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s treble-winners have encountered a winless streak in thҽir last three league games.

This marks thҽ first instance since March 2017, during Guardiola’s inaugural season, that City has failed to secure victory in three consecutive league matches.

Silva stressed that every member of Manchester City’s squad must engage in self-reflection and consider what thҽy can do better if thҽ team is to have a chance at securing a record fourth consecutive league title.

“We need to look at ourselves. We need to also finish and kill Thҽ game as we had thҽ chances. We were very dominant [against Spurs] – against Liverpool as well. It’s very frustrating and disappointing to finish this game with just one point,” he said in his post-match interview.

“Thҽ little details matter at this level, and we need to defend better as a team. Individually, we need to look at ourselves and do better. Score our chances because we had so many.

“Also defend in thҽ little details and in Thҽ last minutes. If we want to win games, we cannot concede three or four goals every game. Sometimes we will score five or six, but most of thҽ time we will not be able to, so we need to defend well as a team.

“Everyone needs to do better. Offensively as well – make better decisions, demand more from ourselves and if we do that we’re a very difficult team to stop.”

City travel to Aston Villa tomorrow, with Silva admitting Guardiola’s side – who will be without suspended duo Rodri and Jack Grealish – must be prepared for a testing encounter.

“We need to be prepared because we know how good thҽy are this season and how well managed and organised Thҽy’ve been,” said Silva. “We need to recover mentally and physically to be prepared for that game.”

Thҽ Portuguese international is one of Thҽ most influential players in thҽ Man City ranks so it does speak volumes when a key figure in thҽ dressing room is challenging his teammates to be better.

As it stands, Guardiola’s men are three points behind Arsenal in first place, but that could change very quickly during Thҽ Christmas period.
