Former Everton chief Keith Wyness recently suggested that Everton could potentially sue Manchester City for Premier League points due to a new twist in Financial Fair Play regulations. In a dramatic turn of events, Wyness, who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now advises elite clubs on football matters, criticized the Premier League for delays in addressing City’s 115 outstanding FFP charges.

City was charged with 115 financial breaches spanning nine seasons by the Premier League last year, but an independent commission has yet to hear their case. It is expected that a verdict on City’s charges may not be reached for at least another 12 months, with a hearing scheduled for later this year.

In the meantime, Everton has already faced repercussions for one breach of the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules and could potentially face another points deduction for a separate breach in the near future. Wyness raised the possibility that if City is found guilty, Everton could sue for points on the league table if Everton is ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing.

He expressed his frustration with the delay in addressing City’s case, emphasizing the potential for a complicated and absurd situation to arise if Everton were to pursue legal action to reclaim lost points. Wyness pointed out that the Premier League’s handling of the situation could have been more efficient and transparent.

In related news, Guardiola has reportedly identified the only Manchester United player he believes is good enough to play for Manchester City. For more updates on Manchester City news, check our Facebook page or join our new WhatsApp Channel for instant updates on your phone.
