According to sources from Football Insider, Arsenal is confident that 16-year-old wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri will remain with the club despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester City. Nwaneri recently played 13 minutes off the bench in a match against West Ham, and has already agreed to sign a professional deal with the club when he turns 17 next month. It is believed that Nwaneri is part of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s plans for the 2023-24 campaign and beyond. Sources also revealed that the young midfielder has gained the trust of established first-team players, who recognize his immense talent.
Nwaneri’s professional contract will likely deter any potential approaches from Chelsea or Manchester City. However, both Premier League giants will continue to monitor the 16-year-old’s situation in case his first-team involvement stalls. Despite previous interest from Manchester City, it is reported that they are no longer confident of signing Nwaneri after making initial contact.
The 16-year-old made headlines last season when he became the youngest-ever Premier League player after turning out from the bench against Brentford at just 15 years and 181 days old. In the current campaign, Nwaneri has scored 11 goals in 10 age-group games, primarily playing in attacking midfield.
Another promising talent at Arsenal is 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has yet to make his senior debut despite being involved with the senior squad this season.
In other news, Arsenal has joined Newcastle United in the race for a Premier League star. For more Arsenal and exclusive news, fans can follow Football Insider on Facebook or join their new WhatsApp Channel for instant updates straight to their phones.
Overall, Arsenal is optimistic about Nwaneri’s future at the club and is confident in his potential as a rising star.
