Manchester City striker Erling Haaland won the Golden Boot this campaign with 27 Premier League goals, but despite being the top scorer in the league, he has been subjected to many media attacks.

The Norwegian has faced significant criticism for his overall performances for Manchester City. Roy Keane has publicly criticized the striker for his lack of contributions to the team beyond scoring goals.

The former Manchester United player described Haaland as a ‘League Two Player’ after Manchester City played a goalless draw against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium in March. He claimed that the Man City striker was not good enough for the English top-flight league with such a ridiculous performance.

Erling Haaland, who had claimed that he was bothered by the Keane’s comment demanded for more haters and critics while speaking after City won their fourth consecutive Premier League titles.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund striker maintained that even if this season were labeled as a poor for him, he would always want a repetition of it. Furthermore, he expressed that the increased number of critics only fueled his motivation.

“If this is a bad season, then I’ll take it,’ said Haaland, who then added sarcastically: “It was a bad season, plain and simple — the only way is up. The more haters and critics, the better,” Haaland said, according to Mail Sport.

The Manchester City forward is now the 7th player in history to claim the Premier League golden boot for two consecutive seasons. He secured the accolade with 36 goals in the previous campaign, and has once again emerged victorious this season with 27 goals.

The Norway international is in a good position to equal Thierry Henry’s record. Another league top scorer for him would put him among the greatest Premier League strikers who won the award for three consecutive seasons.
